Saturn in Leo

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me."
--Stuart Smalley, Saturday Night Live

That somewhat uptight, uncomfortable character will dry off in a hurry as he leaves Cancer and enters the realm of Leo. Unlike the last room of the party, where everyone was sitting quietly in the hot tub, now everyone is taking turns performing, telling jokes, and making the large crowd laugh and cheer.

Upon entering the room, the party’s host turns to you (Saturn) and says so that everyone focuses their attention entirely upon you, “hey, what have you been up to?”

“I … uh … um, well, I … uh … yeah … um … eeh … oh, um … uh …”

Yes, it’s time to become comfortable being the center of attention. Or, to believe in ourselves and our gifts. Or, to stop tearing ourselves down.

Or, to become more disciplined and realistic about our goals and ambitions.

Challenges will be met along the way. We’ll come up against our creative blocks. We might overdo it at times as we’re learning to express ourselves with greater ease. We’ll need to be careful not to let our ego’s get out of control.

But the paradox of Leo is that by serving, we become true leaders. By getting our ego’s out of the way, we find personal success. By aligning ourselves with a higher will than our own, we become powerful.

And let me spoil the secret of Saturn in Leo right away. No one else’s love is ever going to fulfill us like our own. No matter how respected we are, no matter how many people are into our creative thing, we will never find the inner satisfaction that we seek through what everyone else thinks about us. So if we’re going to fulfill a creative goal, either do it to be of service, or do it for your own satisfaction (or both). If, deep down, we are hoping for other’s love, admiration, or approval, the next couple of years may feel like a very long time. This is even more important if you were born with Saturn in Leo or in the 5th house.

You might actually want to say a sincere prayer, asking that you will be guided to the highest expression of yourself and your life’s purpose during Saturn’s passage through Leo over the next couple years. You might want to set an intention, writing down your goals for yourself in terms of creative expression, leadership, confidence, and self-approval. It’s always a good idea to begin these new phases with consciousness.
