BJ's chart suggests, in Bioenergetic terms, an oral structure.
This structure is formed in the first two years of life. At this
stage of development, when BJ reached out to have her needs met,
she experienced emotional deprivation. Six of her placements,
including the Midheaven, fall between 0 and 2 degrees, which
supports the notion that much of her character was formed from
birth to two years of age. The yod to her Moon, for example,
has Mercury at 1 degree and Saturn and the Moon at 2 degrees.
While there are many ways to interpret her Moon placement, it's
clear that she experienced emotional deprivation and abandonment
as a child. Her mother was simply unable to respond to BJ's emotional
needs.
The oral structure is often indicated by an emphasized 4th house,
a prominent Moon or several placements in Cancer. This archetype
represents the need for nurturance and the strong nourishing
energy that orals express towards others. It also emphasizes
the significance that mother and emotional bonding play in the
oral structure's development.
BJ does have both her Sun and Ascendant in Cancer, suggesting
she had been her mother's emotional caretaker as a child. This
theme is accentuated by the quincunx from Saturn to the Moon.
Fear of abandonment, emotional deprivation and difficulty reaching
out to have security needs met played out in BJ's early life.
For the oral body type, which often appears
undernourished, the message was "Don't reach out or you will be rejected".
BJ learned not to make any demands. "I don't need anyone" is
the core statement of the oral who unconsciously believes that
being dependent means being weak. In fact, any sign of neediness
will be masked by an outer display of strength and independence.
BJ identifies strongly with her Capricorn Moon
and has less connection with her Venus in Cancer. As often
happens when we
overly identify with one energy, the opposite will show up in
our lives in exaggerated, "fun-house" mirror fashion.
Because BJ sees herself as responsible, independent and hard
working (and she is!) and isn't as in touch with her softer feminine
side, she views dependency and emotional security as undesirable.
So, she avoids "needy" people or situations that would
expose her own emotional needs.
She doesn't have an emotionally close relationship with her
mother and, in fact, has experienced the destructive face of
the feminine. I attribute this to the grand square, particularly
the opposition of Venus and the Moon squaring Pluto. I associate
this with the symbolism of Mother Nature. There are days when
the face of Nature smiles on us, when the sun is shining, the
sky is blue, and all is well in our world. And, then, without
warning, Mother Nature can be destructive, impersonal, and even
cruel.
This was BJ's experience with her mother. She was often caught
by surprise when her mother became emotionally abusive, critical,
and demanding. Any softness (Venus in Cancer) could make her
vulnerable (Pluto) to her mother's cold, controlling emotions
Moon in Capricorn).
In Buddhist thought, there is nothing inherently good or bad.
Instead, all energy is seen in both its wisdom manifestation
and in its garden-variety neurotic expression. The wisdom aspect
of BJ's chart is seen in her grand fire trine. She is highly
creative and very intuitive, as one would imagine with 1st house
Mercury trining Neptune in the 5th house. The oral personality
often displays a high level of creativity and strong intuition.
They are generally loving, generous and affectionate, which is
true of BJ. She is caring, sensitive, and very expressive.
As Saturn transits her cardinal placements in 2003 and 2004,
it will aspect her grand square. Volumes have been written about
grand squares. In addition to more traditional interpretations,
I see grand squares as the foundation upon which we can build
the next phase of our life. It requires time energy and effort,
typical of Saturn transits.
For BJ, using her Mercury energy can be helpful.
Moving off old maps of reality and recognizing she is moving
into new, uncharted
territory will be important. Saturn moving through her 12th house
also emphasizes the end of a cycle and the beginnings of a new
one. This means carefully examining her internal scripts and
throwing out old attitudes about herself and her relationship
to the feminine, the Divine, and creativity. Using her grand
fire trine will also help change Saturnian obstacles into opportunities.
Music, dance, meditation and creative writing are some ways to
work with this energy. For BJ, the next 18 months can be a time
of great success as she "collaborates with the inevitable" and
uses these transits for deeper self awareness and fulfillment.
