The US-Canadian Electrical Blackout:
Mars and Uranus in the USA Chart

Dear Friends,
I just came out from camping three weeks in the French Pyrenhees and heard about the black-out in the Northeast of the States and Canada. It would be interesting to look at an Astrological Chart for Canada and see how they are karmically linked to the U.S. (In ways beyond the obvious).

Looking at the chart of the U.S. during the time of the electrical collapse the first Astrological 'flag' which emerges is that Mars, approaching its closest perihelion to the earth in 60,000 years (mentioned in my last article) was, at the time of the blackout, in a tense square to the position of Uranus in the U.S. chart. Uranus is the sky God, the ruler of Aquarius, the sign of group consciousness. Uranus is also related to the development of electricity and technology.

The U.S. has Uranus in positive aspect in its Virgoan Sixth House, house of work, service, activity in the world. Uranus is in positive aspect to Saturn. This is why the U.S. is so good at taking innovative electrical/technological inventions and putting them into concrete actual manifestation and effectiveness.

However, the close-in, brighter than ever Mars, moving through our Gemini related Third House of communication, put some major tension on our normally well functioning Uranus. I know the power of Mars and Uranus. When they were square and opposite to my Moon I was a passenger in a truck that rolled three times.

An additional note, transiting Uranus in the sky is now at the beginning of Pisces. It is also traveling through our Third House of communication. Over the next couple of years Uranus will move into a square to our natal Uranus. Uranus moves much more slowly than Mars, thus this tension will be of much greater duration. Could this blackout be a preview of coming attractions?

It does seem that the blackout was a surprising, shocking Uranian way to open people to greater Aquarian group consciousness with Piscean compassion and sensitivity for the suffering of others. A little vulnerability for our normally well-functioning innovative Uranus. I trust that everything happens for a reason and continue to appreciate the ways in which Astrology can show the method to the madness.

Short of any other juicy current events I may start in on the Astrological method to the madness of our fearless leader George W. next month.
