This client also said, "Ethiopia is a gorgeous country with an incredibly generous culture. The food is delicious and the dancing is lively and invigorating. I am grateful for my time there." But this client talks about the serious issues she has dealt with following the experience, which took many years to eventually heal.
Some of her descriptions are apt for Saturn and Neptune: "Issues around mud and flooding," "strong poverty consciousness," "didn't sleep; lots of anxiety; corruption." She says the experience left her with low self-esteem and shame. She described insect infestations, such as bed bugs, fleas, and fire ants.
Also note the Moon so precisely on the cusp of the 6th house in both Porphyry and Equal House. She describes major issues around food, GI tract problems, stomach issues, food poisoning and amoebas.
One of the interesting pieces of this experience is that she says this overall experience helped to heal her of her need to be a martyr, of realizing that she didn't need to take herself to the point of death to help people, that she didn't need to be Joan of Arc.
I generally describe Saturn-Neptune parans as depressing and heavy, the opposite of a romantic and optimistic place (which Jupiter-Neptune may be like). Saturn is however great at showing us our limitations and teaching us hard lessons, while Neptune can represent our delusions and illusions, rose-colored glasses, and poor boundaries. Saturn can indeed reflect poverty in some cases, and Saturn and Neptune can be two of the hardest planets to combine for health matters. Saturn can also be extremely good for career, but in this case the close double Saturn-Neptune combinations were striking and oppressive.
Had she come to me before the event, I can say confidently that this would have been an easy no, or at least a place where I would have described the experience as very heavy and probably ultimately disillusioning for career matters (which actually turned out somewhat in her favor, in the end), as well as a place where health and relationships with co-workers could be challenging (the latter was also complicated). But it sounds like she did some valuable service and learned a life-changing lesson. This turns out to be a striking example of why such predominant Saturn-Neptune combinations are likely to be so challenging.
-Moses Siregar
Astrocartography Readings
